”Los Bufones de Velázquez”: bringing achondroplasia into the public eye

November 4, 2024

Metropolitana collaborated with the production company Roma and the agency &Rosàs to do the color grading of the piece of the ADEE (Association of Achondroplasia and Other Dysplasias with Dwarfism), titled ”Los Bufones de Velázquez”.

Last October 25th was the International Day of People with Achondroplasia and other Skeletal Dysplasias. The ADEE association took advantage of that day to present its campaign in favor of inclusion.

The piece ‘Los Bufones de Velázquez’ seeks to make visible the dehumanization that still persists in society towards people with achondroplasia, forcing a deep collective reflection on the stigmas and prejudices that still remain in force.

Inspired by the portraits of court jesters that Velázquez painted more than 400 years ago, this campaign denounces how many people with achondroplasia are still seen in the same light today.
